A man has been killed in a light plane crash in central Victoria.
The pilot was flying solo over a private property in Redesdale, about 24km east of Castlemaine, when the aircraft crashed about 12.30pm on Friday, police said.
The pilot, who has not yet been identified, died at the scene.
A nearby resident, Ashley Scott, told ABC News he heard a "loud bang" on Friday afternoon.
"I saw a parachute, obviously the plane had a parachute to slow (the) impact down," Mr Scott said.
"It happened so quick it was, 'bang' in the air, so might have been an explosion in the air and then, 'bang', hitting the ground."
No one else was harmed in the crash.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
