Piers Morgan said he ‘respects’ Britney Spears for sharing nude snaps after she was freed from her ‘torture-chamber’ conservatorship.
The Toxic hitmaker, 40, hit the headlines earlier this week when she uploaded a series of naked pictures from a holiday she and fiancé Sam Asghari enjoyed in Mexico last year, with only a love heart emoji covering her modesty.
“Don’t underestimate the power of doing it myself and shooting with a selfie stick !!! Photo dump before there was a child inside me ,” Britney captioned the snaps.
Her fans were quick to comment on the slideshow, with some expressing concern for her mental health, as she regularly shared racy pictures on social media after being freed from her 13-year conservatorship, overseen by dad Jamie Spears.
“What the hell is happening?” a fan commented.
“There's no reason to keep taking naked pictures of yourself and posting them online it's time to grow up Britney,” one fumed.
“you dont need this. please, stop,” one fan wrote.
“Don’t underestimate your poor mental health… this is so sad. Your poor kids,” another added.
But Britney has found an unlikely supporter, as Piers said he respected the mum-of-two - who is expecting her third child - for enjoying her freedom.
He slammed her conservatorship as "a very real torture-chamber", and said she was controlled by " very tight manacles".
In an op-ed for The Sun, the former Good Morning Britain presenter said he “understands” why she’s decided to bare her body.
“She doesn’t want to make any kind of statement other than that she’s free again, to be whatever she wants without having to have it approved first by her controlling father and a legal system that turned her into a virtual slave,” he wrote.
Piers confessed he was initially concerned when she posted the full-frontal pictures on Instagram, but he said she’s now “reborn”.
“The Britney I saw on Instagram this week is a woman reborn. And a woman free,” he wrote.
“Give her a break – she’s having fun again.”
