Piers Morgan loses it on Twitter as Arsenal put in "spineless" and "sickening" performance

Notorious Arsenal fan Piers Morgan was left fuming as he watched the Gunners fall to an emphatic 4-1 defeat against Manchester City, with their Premier League title hopes suffering a huge blow.

Arsenal have seen their lead at the top of the table cut to just two points and, with City having two games in hand over their rivals, Pep Guardiola's side are well and truly in pole position to reclaim their title. And Morgan branded Arsenal's display an "embarrassing capitulation" and a "shambles" in a string of tweets during the game.

"This is making me sicker than Monday's dodgy sushi," the TV host wrote. "We're just giving this away. The ball, the match, the Premier League. Embarrassing capitulation by Arsenal. So disappointing.

"At least put up a bloody fight, Arsenal. I don't mind losing to a better team, which City clearly are, but I do mind losing so spinelessly." And after a 95th minute strike from Erling Haaland wrapped up a thumping win for City, Morgan delivered a stinging final verdict on Arsenal's performance.

He tweeted: "FFS. What a shambles. When I was vomiting violently into a toilet bowl at 2am on Tuesday, I never imagined that would be only the second most sickening experience of my week."

Kevin De Bruyne was truly outstanding as he scored a brace and provided an assist, with the Belgian playmaker believing City were at their best in what proved to be a thumping win over their tile rivals.

"The first half was really good and we could have scored more," he told BT Sport after the game. "Luckily the second goal wasn't offside so that changed the game a little bit. In the second half it was probably about 50-50, but we didn't give much away to them.

"They're a class team and hard to play against. We had to be at our best today – and we were." De Bruyne also insisted City will not get ahead of themselves despite taking a big step towards the title with victory over Arsenal, adding: "It's too long.

"We know what people will say, but it's so hard and a lot of things can happen. There are still seven games left and I know we're two games in hand, but we're still behind them. People will say that we will win the title now, but we won’t give in until it's mathematical."
