Piers Morgan lashes out at ITV on return as Lorraine Kelly left red-faced

Piers Morgan lashed out at ITV as he made return to the channel's studios today.

The controversial presenter appeared on ITV's Lorraine today, and he left the show's host Lorraine Kelly red-faced and cringing as he hit out at his former bosses as he claimed they forced him to apologise or quit the show.

Piers famously stormed out of the Good Morning Britain studio when he rowed with weather presenter Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle's comments in a then recently aired interview between the Duchess of Sussex and Oprah Winfrey.

But he made his return to ITV today for the first time for a chat with Lorraine.

Speaking on her show today, he said: "I've been cancelled from Good Morning Britain because I wasn't able to stay."

Lorraine then chimed in as she told Piers: "You're fired up for this! But there's no one going to be by your side tempering you," as she spoke about his new TV show on TalkTV, which is called Uncensored.

"Why, do you want to be my tv wife?" Piers asked, as he explained he "wants all types of views" on his show.

"I agree with you on some things and I vehemently disagree with you on other things ... isn't it going to be quite a right wing channel you're on?" Lorraine then suggested, which Piers quickly denied.

He insisted he wanted to make it clear that he "had a great time with ITV, working on Life Stories and working with Susanna Reid," as Lorraine then went on to blame him for what happened.

"It was your fault! You walked out!" she told him, before he added: "I chose not to stay listening to that idiot."

He then ended his chat by jokingly storming off following the heated clash with Lorraine.

Piers previously described his exit from GMB as a "farce" but he said he was delighted it happened.

"I'm delighted that as a result we've ended up with a whole network which is now dedicated to preventing that kind of farce from recurring," he said, "You shouldn't be shamed, vilified or cancelled for having an opinion."

Piers will return to British TV for his new show on April 25, with the star describing it as a "lively vigorous debate".

"I’m delighted to now be returning to live television with a new daily show whose main purpose is to cancel the Cancel Culture which has infected societies around the world," he said, "I want it to be a platform for lively vigorous debate, news-making interviews, and that increasingly taboo three-letter word: fun. I also want it to annoy all the right people."
