Piers Morgan issues apology to Jay-Z and Beyonce after guest's claims on YouTube show during Diddy discussion

Piers Morgan has apologised to Jay-Z and Beyoncé after serious allegations were made against them by a guest on his YouTube-hosted show.

Last week, American singer-songwriter Jaguar Wright, 47, was invited on to Piers Morgan Uncensored to discuss the numerous allegations against hit-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54.

Combs is currently in custody awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He has has also had more than 100 sexual misconduct allegations made against him.

He was arrested in mid-September following a grand jury’s indictment.

The I’ll Be Missing You hit-maker pleaded not guilty to the three-count indictment and was denied bail.

During the interview, Wright - who once worked for Jay-Z as a backing singer - said: “For four years I’ve been screaming not just Diddy, but Diddy and Jay-Z are monsters.’”.

She also described Jay-Z and Beyoncé as a “nasty little couple”.

Now, Morgan has issued an apology for her remarks on the show after being contracted by Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s legal team.

He said: “Their lawyers contacted us to say that those claims were totally false and have no basis in fact. And we’ve therefore complied with the legal request to cut them from the original interview. Editing interviews is not something we do lightly on a show called Uncensored. But, like the proverbial cries of fire in a crowded theatre, there are legal limits on us, too. And we apologise to Jay-Z and Beyoncé.”

He went on to explained his reason for giving Wright a platform on his show, saying: “[Wright has] made claims about [Combs] for years. Those claims will receive a lot of attention in the media across many platforms for many years. And that’s the thing about platforms. The reality of the modern world is that pretty much everyone has a platform as long as they have something to say that other people want to hear. That’s why we invited her on to be interviewed. The people making these claims have an audience with or without shows like mine.”

A now-edited version of the interview is available to watch on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored YouTube channel.
