Piers Morgan 'in talks to land first interview with Britney Spears' since court victory

Britney Spears will give her first interview since ending her conservatorship, and it’s likely to be with British broadcasters.

Sources say the bombshell interview is likely to air in the spring and will lift the lid on her “Toxic” 13 years under the the control of her father Jamie and her family fallout.

The front-runner to land the exclusive chat is former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, 56, who is set to launch a weeknight show on new channel talkTV.

It will also cover the 40-year-old’s turbulent personal life including her two previous marriages, as well as her relationship with fiancé Sam Asghari.

The interview could be broadcast in the US and Australia as well as the UK.

An insider suggested Britney could be the A-list name Piers launches his series with, saying: “She’s one of the biggest names in showbiz with a fascinating story to tell.

“Piers would love to sit down with Britney – as would his former employees ITV – so it would be a major coup for him. And he wants to start with a bang.”

Britney joked last year she would “set things square on Oprah”, hinting she planned to speak with US chat show host Oprah Winfrey in a similar episode to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ’s interview last year.

The fallout from their interview led to Piers quitting Good Morning Britain after ITV bosses asked him to apologise for a controversial rant about Meghan.

It was the most complained about TV moment of last year but regulator Ofcom decided not to investigate.

Reports in the US have said there are no plans for Britney to be interviewed by Oprah.

This week, it was claimed the singer has signed a £11million contract with Simon & Schuster for her memoirs – the biggest book deal since the Obamas.

Last year, Piers wrote a supportive article calling for Britney to be “freed” from the “torture” of her conservatorship. The TV host added: “It was stunning to hear the brutal reality from Britney’s own mouth.”
