Piers Morgan faces huge backlash for cruel jibes about Madonna's face at Grammys

Piers Morgan is facing criticism after calling out popstar Madonna for her appearance at last night's Grammy Awards in LA.

Madonna, 64, was seen looking wrinkle free with plumped up lips and a very taut face as she made a made a surprise debut on stage at the Crypto.com Arena to introduce Sam Smith and Kim Petras ahead of their performance of Unholy.

The Queen of Pop, who has won seven Grammys herself, seized her turn on the microphone to pay tribute to 'all the little rebels' at home, but it was her striking look that got fans talking.

Whilst fans rushed to social media to question the Material Girl's 'unrecognisable' appearance, Piers took to social media to share his thoughts in his typically outspoken way.

Alongside a screaming emoji, and posting a close-up pic of Madonna at the bash, the 57-year-old TV presenter dryly asked fans: "I thought Halloween was in October?"

Whilst the tweet might have been in jest, Piers was inundated with criticism from his fellow social media users who deemed his comment unnecessary.

One fan tweeted back: "Dearest Piers…@Madonna has… Sold 300 million albums. Released 92 singles. Sold 100 million singles. Sold out 11 world tours. Grossed nearly $2 billion in tour revenue. Broken 26 world records. Win over 300 awards including Grammys and Golden Globes … just saying".

"Oh wow...... I've always supported you, but this is a bit bullying. Not a good look for you," added another.

Another simply asked Piers "Why are you like this?"

"You really shouldn’t comment on someone’s appearance, you never know what someone could be going through," another fired off.

It's not the first time Piers has come under fire for his comments about the Like A Prayer songstress.

Last month, Piers was branded 'misogynistic' and 'ageist' for comments he made about Madonna's fashion choices.

Speaking to Jeremy Kyle, Piers quipped: "I think she’s become the most grotesque, trainwreck embarrassment in the history of world entertainment.”

He also blasted the star for what he called 'trying to be a sex kitten when you're in your sixties.'

Piers spoke out after Madonna shared a typically provocative video to promote her Celebration world tour.

When previously asked how she deals with trolls commenting on her age, Madonna previously told The New York Times she refuses to bow down to expectations.

She said: "I think you think about growing old too much. I think you think about age too much. I think you should just stop thinking about it.

"Stop thinking, just live your life and don’t be influenced by society trying to make you feel some type of way about your age or what it is you’re supposed to be doing.”

The tweet comes as Piers was forced to backtrack comments made over an Arsenal v. Everton match, where the TV presenter branded the football team as "dismal".

Not holding back, the presenter wrote on Twitter: "Dismal Arsenal performance today - we've been bullied around by one of the worst teams in the Premier League. Inexplicable.

"Not going to win the League playing like that."

Piers' withering verdict on the team he supports came just over half a month after he apologised for repeated barbs to Spains' footballer manager Mikel Arteta, as he claimed the former midfielder was not up to the job following his appointment in December 2019.
