Piers Morgan tried to offend a vegan protester live on TV by ending a debate by eating a burger. The controversial TV host ended a conversation about the ethics of eating meat having a Big Mac delivered to his desk.
Vegan protester Orla Coghlan, from Animal Rebellion, appeared on Piers' show to defend throwing white paint at the Houses of Parliament in a bid to stop people drinking milk. But the TV host derailed the conversation by asking why vegans do not care about bees.
Bees are known to die in large numbers during the pollination of some crops, such as avocados. Piers seemed to be arguing that vegans did not care about bees because they ate avocados.
Shouting over Ms Coghlan, he said: “You are destroying the planet, and you’re killing billions of bees, I don’t get it. And you’re wrecking Big Ben!”
He concluded: “My response to you destroying all these things, is to have a Big Mac. Because you know what? It’s a free country, it’s a democracy and I’m allowed to eat meat and I’m certainly allowed to eat meat when someone who kills bees to feed their avocado habit minds.”
A member of staff working on the show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, then hand-delivered the presented a McDonald's Big Mac. He then ended the segment by eating the burger while Ms Coghlan tried to explain why meat was bad for the planet.
