Cristiano Ronaldo's friend Piers Morgan has claimed that the former Manchester United player told him via text that he "is going to the fight" between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury this weekend in Saudi Arabia.
The pair of fighters face off in a boxing ring on Sunday at the Diriyah Arena on the north-western outskirts of the Saudi capital, Riyadh. That is also where Ronaldo now calls home since leaving United in November and joining Saudi Pro League table-toppers Al-Nassr earlier this year.
Less than two-and-a-half miles separate the team's home ground, the King Saud University Stadium, and the open-air arena where Paul and Fury will fight. The proximity of the two venues had led to rumours about Ronaldo being ringside, and there appears to be some truth to them.

Paul was interviewed as part of the latest episode of TalkTV's Piers Morgan Uncensored programme, during which the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Gordon Brown, was earlier interviewed as an undercard of sorts to the main event. During the remote sit down, Morgan asked the interviewee if he thought Ronaldo would be coming to watch.
Paul had previously told fans that he did think the player was coming, but did not give a definite answer when asked by Morgan. "That is what the rumours are saying, man," Paul replied.
Within the same answer, Paul also alluded to comments from Tommy Fury's half-brother Tyson Fury, who has claimed during the build-up to this bout that he would “leave [Tommy] in Saudi Arabia” were the 23-year-old to lose against Paul, suggesting "he can become Cristiano Ronaldo’s best pal, and he can become a PT for Ronaldo in Saudi." Paul told Morgan: "I think Tommy is going to be [Ronaldo's] masseuse after this."
After the interview had concluded, the interviewer sought to clarify Ronaldo's status by sharing a text message received from the 38-year-old. "Well, a quick update to the end of that conversation, Cristiano Ronaldo has just told me he is going to the fight on Sunday, and he thinks it’s going to be a great fight which many people do, so there you are," Morgan said on the show.
