Piers Morgan calls on-air spat with Tory MP over Boris Johnson 'favourite TV encounter'

Piers Morgan has labelled his on-air spat with Conservative MP James Duddridge his 'favourite TV encounter' describing Wednesday night's Uncensored show as a 'very entertaining night'.

GB News' Piers and the Rochford and Southend minister found themselves at loggerheads after the latter claimed his 'wife would divorce him if he took questions' from the presenter.

Mr Duddridge told journalist Kate McCann he would only take questions from her after she invited him to respond to Piers' question about how long Boris Johnson could last as Prime Minister amid 42 MP resignations in the space of two days.

After answering the question once Kate had reworded it, Piers labelled the MP 'Comical Ali' - the nickname given to former Iraqi politician Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf because of the colourful manner of his TV appearances.

In response the MP said: "I've got Piers in my ear. The only person comical is him. He should get out of my ear-set. I love Kate, I will only answer to Kate. I think it's very bad TV."

Piers retaliated by calling the parliamentarian a twerp who 'everyone is laughing at', which resulted in him removing his earpiece and walking off camera.

Back in the studio Piers joked: "Hang on, A - who is he? and B - how dare he be so rude? I've never met the guy. Who is he?

The 57-year old then asked Kate to ask the MP if his wife would be willing to come on Thursday's show.

Fans of Piers took to Twitter to express their delight at the exchange, with one user commenting: "Another great show Piers, straight to the point. That last interview was a cracker. Made my night while I'm fishing in the North Sea!"

Another wrote: "I'll never forget today Piers it's been surreal and after all the MPs resigning you get Comical Ali coming along saying it's business as usual at 10 Downing street. And wasn't he rude to you Piers, he was afraid to speak to you because there was no fridge to hide in, Great TV."

A third added: "That was so funny! He seems to really hate you. Hope his wife comes on next. Brilliant. I laughed so much tonight, who said politics couldn't be funny."
