Piers Morgan brutally slams Liz Truss in furious Twitter outburst - 'Please, for the love of God, shut up'

Talk show host and journalist Piers Morgan has once again vented at the state of UK politics, following on from a substantial Government U-turn today.

New Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, earlier announced that the flagship Energy Price Guarantee beyond next April in a surprise announcement - in an attempt to stabilise the markets.

In one of the biggest Budget U-turns in the political history of the United Kingdom, Hunt also scrapped nearly all of the remaining measures from Kwasi Kwarteng's mini-Budget, which was announced just last month.

This includes £2bn worth of changes to the IR35 tax rules for self-employed people, a £1bn cut in dividend tax, £2bn VAT-free shopping for visitors to the UK, and a £600m freeze on alcohol duty. And as the change came into play, Piers, alike many UK nationals questioned the integrity of Prime Minister Liz Truss and her closest Cabinet members.

Taking to Twitter, an always outspoken Morgan, initially wrote: "Resign @trussliz - it will be the only good decision you’ve taken as Prime Minister," before berating a post of the PM.

Accompanied by a video of Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announcing the Government U-turn, Truss wrote: "The British people rightly want stability, which is why we are addressing the serious challenges we face in worsening economic conditions. We have taken action to chart a new course for growth that supports and delivers for people across the United Kingdom."

And Morgan was once again quick off the mark to share his opinion with the newly founded Prime Minster, quoting the Tweet: "Please, for the love of God, shut up. Nobody believes a word you say any more.

"Just go."

And an abundance of social media users were quick to praise Piers for taking a stand. One, wrote: "You just took the words out of MILLONS of us Piers," while another, added: "She's lost all credibility (the little she did have) and more importantly, the trust of the public. The only decent thing she can do is resign."

A third, chimed in: "For once I agree with you," with a laughing emoji, while a fourth, penned: "Could hear you say that @piersmorgan! Couldn’t agree more."

Only two major announcements from the mini-Budget three weeks ago - a cut to Stamp Duty and a cut to National Insurance from April - will still take effect - leading to a number of Tory MPs calling for Truss' resignation, in a similar yet smaller-scale turn of events which saw Boris Johnson's tenure as Conservative leader threatened just months ago.
