Piers Morgan branded a 'd***' for mocking David Beckham's footballing career

Piers Morgan has been blasted by David Beckham fans after the former Good Morning Britain host mocked his football career.

The 56-year-old TV host was also slated by England icon Gary Lineker for using the Super Bowl to poke fun at Becks.

Piers, who was in America for the tournament, ranted on social media alongside a snap of Los Angeles Rams player Odell Beckham Jr.

Alongside the snap of the sports star, Piers penned: "Great to watch a Beckham who can actually play football. #SuperBowl."

His scathing tweet didn't go down well with furious British fans who immediately flocked to slam the controversial TV star.

Furious Beckham fans rushed to call Piers a 'fat d**k' as they hit out at his mocking post.

"You fat d***, Beckham's one free kick is bigger than your whole s****y career," one raged.

"You have no idea what you're talking about you silly little man. David Beckham is ten-times the man you are," another fumed.

"Oh here we go again! Piers is threatened by yet another man whose more successful than him," someone else suggested.

Meanwhile, a fourth quipped: "You wish you were him."

Elsewhere, TV presenter Lineker, 61, replied to Morgan on Twitter as he defended Becks.

"You might dislike him, for whatever reason, but David Beckham was a great footballer. One of our finest," he insisted.

Morgan used Lineker's phrasing with a mocking reply which read: "You might want to suck up to him, for whatever reason, but Beckham was the most overrated player in history. Wouldn't have got onto the Arsenal Invincibles bench."

He went on: "Take away the crossing and free-kicks, he was a fame-hungry snail with dumb haircuts who only won that much because of the truly great players around him."

While he's had hundreds of fans defending him after the scathing tweet, David has yet to comment on the matter.

The former England captain, 46, is regarded as one of football's greatest icons and he was famed throughout his playing days for his astonishing crossing and set-piece-taking ability.

He won numerous titles throughout his time at Old Trafford and added to his trophy cabinet with Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain.
