Richard Osman, Kathy Burke and Gary Neville have all spoken out following the BBC issuing a statement about Gary Lineker's future as host of Match of the Day.
Piers Morgan didn't hold back when slamming the BBC - calling the organisation splineless and calling on other stars to be investigated over so-called impartially breaches.
He tweeted: "WTF? How pathetically spineless.. I now demand the BBC suspend every presenter who has made public comment about news or current affairs - starting with Sir David Attenborough and Lord Sugar."
He later added: "REMINDER: BBC management told @GaryLineker to make political statements about Qatar’s human rights record at the start of the recent World Cup."
Morgan didn't stop there - going on to share a third tweet taking aim at the BBC and supporting his pal.
The former Good Morning Britain presenter fumed: "It’s now a sackable offence in Britain to express an opinion. What a pathetic state of affairs. #lineker."
Morgan then went on to warn any presenter considering stepping in and covering for Lineker this weekend that he will be judging them for doing so.
A spokesperson for the publicly-funded organisation confirmed this evening that Gary would not be presenting Match of the Day until an agreement has been made regarding his future use of social media.
But sources close to Gary say the former footballer has not agreed to 'step back' and instead has been taken off air due to his refusual to back down and apologise for tweets published earlier this week.
Gary described the government's new Migration Bill as "beyond awful" after it was unveiled by home secretary Suella Braverman on Tuesday - later adding: "This is just an immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s."
Tonight, a BBC spokesperson said: "The BBC has been in extensive discussions with Gary and his team in recent days. We have said that we consider his recent social media activity to be a breach of our guidelines.
"The BBC has decided that he will step back from presenting Match of the Day until we’ve got an agreed and clear position on his use of social media.
"When it comes to leading our football and sports coverage, Gary is second to none. We have never said that Gary should be an opinion free zone, or that he can’t have a view on issues that matter to him, but we have said that he should keep well away from taking sides on party political issues or political controversies."
The public and celebrities reacted strongly to the statement, with the majority slamming the decision from the BBC.
Former Pointless star Richard Osman was one of the first to blast the BBC, taking to Twitter to say: "This is pathetic for so many reasons."
Gary Neville shared a news report about the statement and added: "When you take on the Tories and the system! Awful people who we need gone. Off for a [wine]."
"What an absolute f***ing joke," comedian Kathy Burke added to the backlash as she quote-tweeted a BBC news article breaking the news.
