Piers Morgan is set to be one of the flagship names on a brand new TV network.
Morgan will host Uncensored, a show that aims to "uncancel those who have been cancelled".
Piers claims to have been censored when he left ITV's Good Morning Britain (GMB), after storming off the set during an argument about Meghan Markle with co-presenter Alex Beresford.
Broadcasting regulator Ofcom later ruled that Morgan was justified in his comments, but only because there were alternative opinions from other presenters at the time. Piers' "apparent disregard" for the subject of suicide was criticised.
Meghan and Piers are reported to have had a brief friendship before the columnist and presenter turned on the Duchess of Sussex, later moaning she had 'ghosted' him.
Did Piers Morgan leave GMB because of Meghan Markle?
Piers Morgan claims he left GMB because he refused to apologise over comments about Meghan Markle.
The comments came in the wake of the controversial interview Prince Harry and Meghan did with Oprah Winfrey, in which I don’t believe a word she says at points during her time with the firm.
Hours later, Piers responded on air: "I'm sorry, weather presenter Alex called him out... I wouldn't believe her if she read me a weather report."
The comments, which led to Piers storming off the set after weather presenter Alex called him out, received thousands of complaints and it was reported by ITV ’s royal correspondent that Meghan herself had filed a complaint directly to the broadcaster.
In the days after he left the GMB studios, Piers said: "I used to think I was uncensored, and then of course when I left Good Morning Britain, it turned out that I actually was being censored in the sense that I was told I had to apologise for disbelieving Princess Pinocchio or I would have to leave the building."
Were Piers Morgan and Meghan Markle friends?
It was reported that before Meghan 'ghosted' Piers, the two were friends.
They followed each other on social media in 2015 and became friendly after Piers became interested in her role on the hit TV drama Suits.
Piers said: "She even started sending me early preview episodes of her show so we could debate juicy storylines yet to air – which we did, at length."
The TV presenter later claimed that he put her in the taxi that led her to the party where she met Prince Harry, but never heard from her again after that, the party where she met Prince Harry.
Piers claimed: "She met Prince Harry at the dinner that night, went on a solo date with him the next night, and I never heard from her again. Not a word. I’d been ghosted."
As rumours surfaced of Meghan's relationship with the rest of the royals breaking down, Piers eventually became critical of his former dinner guest.
He wrote in 2018: "Meghan Markle is a ruthless social climbing actress who has landed the role of her life and is determined to milk it for all she can - and that’s why the Palace is beginning to turn on her."
From then on, Piers' opinion of the Duchess was scathing. While the Sussexes offered no opinion in response, they been critical of the media since stepping back from royal duties.
*TalkTV launches on April 25. Piers Morgan's first Uncensored show will air at 8pm. TalkTV will be available to watch through Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Samsung TV Plus (channel 4316) and YouTube.
