Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg explains why he is 'so proud' to be part of Antonio Conte's Tottenham team

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has stated he is "so proud" to share a dressing room with the Tottenham squad. An extremely tough period for all connected with Spurs following the passing of fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone, Antonio Conte's men did an incredible job of winning at Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend following the news that shocked the club to the core two days before.

Such a key member of Conte's Spurs backroom team and someone who was adored by the players, Hojbjerg has given an insight into working with the renowned fitness coach and his methods they will continue to use for years to come. Also discussing the Tottenham dressing room, the Dane has stressed that he is now "even more eager to be successful".

"The week and the moment has been very emotional. It's devastating, it's sad, it's unfair - all the words you could use," said Hojbjerg in the club's official matchday programme ahead of the Eintracht Frankfurt game. "Gian Piero was a great man for everyone, and we are immensely sad.

"When we did running drills, he would often say when everyone would be very tired, maybe on the limit, he would say 'now the work starts' or actually, in his words, 'work starts now! He would be right next to us while pushing us to the limit and motivating us. That showed a lot, that your limit is further than you first believe, than you first think and that is something the team has taken on board.

"I would like to add that l am very proud to share a dressing room with these players and men. l am just so proud, which makes me even more eager to be successful.

"We will honour Gian Piero's work by trying to give our best every day and by continuing his work now and also for the future. I think that is the best way to honour him. And also, to his family, I send a lot of emotions and thoughts in this moment!"
