Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg believes the 'number one' thing everyone must do is trust Antonio Conte

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg believes that the 'number one' thing everyone must do is trust Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte.

Spurs are yet to click into gear this season yet still find themselves third in the Premier League table and second in their Champions League group. Some pundits have criticised Conte's style of football this season, particularly in comparison with Arsenal's display in the North London Derby on Saturday, while some fans have bemoaned his lack of rotation with his squad.

Tottenham improved on Tuesday night in the Champions League but could not find quality in the final third to better the 0-0 scoreline they ended up with at Eintracht Frankfurt in front of a noisy home crowd.

Hojbjerg believes the first step is always to trust the Tottenham boss, who has won the Premier League title with Chelsea and the Serie A title numerous times with Juventus and then Inter Milan.

"It’s not for me to speak about [opinions outside]. Everyone is trying their best to show their best side and give their best to the team or the club, to have the mindset to always improve. Number one is to always trust the manager," he said. "We are performing well. We can perform better but we are performing well."

On the draw in Germany, the former Bayern Munich midfielder added: "I think we deserved three points. With a little bit more sharpness I think three was totally fine. We lacked to make the make the opportunity a big chance or make the goalkeeper make a save.

"We prepared the game very well. We arrived in the positions very well. We just didn’t use these positions well enough to create a clear goal chance, but I think we deserved the win.

“The team invested a lot, was on the front foot. I was pleased with the way the team had the mindset towards the game. Even in the last seconds. It’s a tough place to come. The stadium is really beautiful and a great atmosphere.

"The team took the challenge well but I’m not of course satisfied with 0-0, but if you cannot win you do not concede and you don’t lose. So at least in that case the team performed maturely."
