Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been dealt a boost in his Chelsea career following Frank Lampard's appointment as caretaker manager. The striker faces an increasingly uncertain future at Stamford Bridge after only signing for the Blues in the summer.
Aubameyang signed from Barcelona towards the end of the summer transfer window and joined up with former manager Thomas Tuchel. However, the German's exit in September saw him fall down the pecking order under Graham Potter, with only 18 appearances all season and three goals.
Since the turn of the year, the 33-year-old has made just five appearances and was dropped from the club's Champions League squad for the knockout stages. However, he could be set to be handed a lifeline to his second spell in the Premier League by Lampard.

Lampard was confirmed as Potter's replacement until the end of the season on Thursday and after insisting that every player with 'have a clean slate', the club legend could revive the striker's troubling period in west London.
Back in 2020, during his first spell in charge, it was reported by The Athletic that Lampard was keen on bringing the striker to Stamford Bridge during his contract dilemma with Arsenal. However, his hopes of bolstering his attack with Aubameyang were quickly rebuffed by the board, with Timo Werner instead signed.
Now, Lampard will get a chance to work with Aubameyang for the remainder of the season. Chelsea have 11 games remaining of their season and the forward could play a huge part in their end of season form.
An impressive run of displays could force the club to rethink the striker's situation for the 2023/24 season. It's been said that he would 'love' a return to Barcelona in the summer despite the Spanish side's dire financial struggles.
