Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang faces Chelsea transfer decision amid shock PSG transfer links

Chelsea worked tirelessly to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the club on deadline day. Aubameyang was announced as a Chelsea player shortly after the deadline had passed on September 1, even though Chelsea had began talks with the player some weeks before that.

A big factor behind the Gabon striker signing for Chelsea was because it would reunite him with Thomas Tuchel, whom he worked under at Borussia Dortmund. However, Tuchel was sacked by the Blues just days after the 33-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Despite the frustration at seeing a coach he has great respect for depart the club, Aubameyang has flourished under Graham Potter. In three appearances under the new Chelsea boss, the former Arsenal striker has scored two goals in three appearances, netting in the recent wins over Crystal Palace and AC Milan.

Aubameyang is the type of striker Chelsea haven't had in recent years, and also the type Potter didn't have during his time at Brighton - where despite the Seagulls' impressive chance creation, they lacked a prolific number nine. The early signs are that he could be a huge success at Stamford Bridge.

However, despite only joining the club last month, he is already being linked with a move away. According to Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with Aubameyang's entourage over a move next season.

The report states that a transfer to the Ligue 1 giants could happen if Chelsea decides they don't want to keep hold of Aubameyang. A move would see him link up with Christophe Galtier, who he worked under at Saint-Etienne.

Given how he has started under Potter, it seems unlikely that Chelsea would decide that Aubameyang is not needed by next summer. The striker will likely play a significant role in any success the Blues have this season.
