Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang drops subtle Arsenal hint with 'bad' memory after Chelsea transfer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has sent a subtle message to Arsenal following his Chelsea transfer this summer with a hint to his unceremonious departure from the club.

The Gabon striker left the Gunners in January after being stripped of the captaincy following a breach of discipline. It coincided with a damaging run of form in which Mikel Arteta was under pressure and eventually Aubameyang was sold to Barcelona.

The striker was in Spain for less than eight months though after completing a deadline day transfer back to London, but this time to Chelsea after Thomas Tuchel had courted for the forward as an answer to his side's goalscoring problems.

Aubameyang is yet to score for his new club but has only played two matches - both in the Champions League - since joining on September 1. He has also seen a new manager come in as Graham Potter replaced Tuchel just one week after Aubameyang's transfer had been completed.

Now, with his new Chelsea teammate Wesley Fofana, Aubameyang has revealed some of the toughest times during his career, and had to hide a little grin as he said: "I've been through a lot of bad moments, not injuries." Reading between the lines Aubameyang may well be describing the end of his Arsenal career, which is not a highlight of his.

He went on to add: "I was okay but at the beginning of my career everyone was talking about me as a sprinter only, this hurts sometimes because you know where you've come from, you know you went through a lot of stuff and you always try your best and some people, even from your club say you're not good at playing football."

At a new club, one that was assured of his conduct by Tuchel upon his arrival, Aubameyang has a new home in London and already looks to have a new companion with Fofana. The Frenchman joined for £69.5million this summer from Leicester after a long transfer saga and the pair were sharing their experiences since a famous photo taken more than 10 years ago surfaced.

In the image, Aubameyang, who was playing at Saint-Etienne at the time as a 21-year-old, is seen posing with a young Fofana, who would have been around the age of 11 himself. In a video released by Chelsea's website, Fofana said, "I remember the photograph. I went to the training ground at St Etienne to see the professional players and I waited at training just for a picture with you because when I was very young I played as a forward with you and Drogba, I like it."
