Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang aiming to fire Barcelona back into Champions League after Arsenal exit

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has set his sights on helping Barcelona qualify for the Champions League after joining them from Arsenal.

Aubameyang mutually agreed to terminate his contract at Arsenal on transfer deadline day and has joined Barcelona on a free transfer.

The Spanish club were looking for a new striker during the January transfer window and Aubameyang is expected to lead the line for them.

After falling out of favour at Arsenal, the 32-year-old is itching to get back playing and he wants to help Barca qualify for the Champions League, with the Catalan club currently 5th in La Liga.

“I’m very proud, especially because my family is Spanish from my mother’s side,” Aubameyang said.

“I’m really proud and happy to be here. My main goal is to help the team and give everything I can to bring the team back into the Champions League and stuff like that.

“I’m just happy to be here and I will try to give everything.

“It’s amazing to have [Xavi] as a coach, he’s been a fantastic player as everyone knows and I’m sure as a coach he will bring us something that we will learn.”
