The summer transfer window is approaching and not only are Tottenham being linked to potential players who could make the move to north London, there are also those who may see an end to their Spurs chapter. This could come in all areas of the pitch, with the futures of the likes of Joe Rodon, Harry Winks and Lucas Moura all uncertain.
Another with a question mark over his future in N17 is Pierluigi Gollini. The Italian made the loan move to Tottenham, from Atalanta, last summer and came in as a backup to Hugo Lloris.
The goalkeeper made just ten appearances in all competitions this season and arguably didn't make a strong enough case for why his deal should be made permanent, which Spurs have the option to do. Earlier this month Gollini admitted that he didn't "expect" Atalanta to let him go, but having previously lived in England, the Italian explained that he loved the care free nature of living in the UK.

Although this is what he would've known when moving to north London, Gollini explained the hardship of going from featuring more often than not in Serie A last season, to watching the majority of games on the bench at Tottenham. "It is not easy to go from playing the Champions League to the bench. However, it makes you better and Lloris has amazed me with his humility," the 27-year-old admitted.
Just like most of the Spurs squad, Gollini has also praised Antonio Conte for the influence he has had on the Lilywhites, which helped lead them to securing a Champions League spot for next season. "Since the coach arrived we have changed gears, we have had different momentum and confidence and the results say so," the goalkeeper explained, in an interview with DAZN on Twitch, ahead of Tottenham's final fixture of the season.
The Italian spoke about the close relationship he had built with Dele Alli and Son Heung-min at Spurs, both helping him fit in when he arrived. Gollini then opened and up and gave his honest thoughts about whether he was satisfied with his experience in N17.
"It is normal that I hoped to play a little more, but I knew from the beginning that I would play the cups and Lloris the [Premier League]. I played [10] games and I was lucky enough to train with Lloris," the goalkeeper admitted.
"You can also grow by not playing, even if there are things that you only learn on the pitch, like the mistakes you make to improve. If you have the right mind, even by observing certain environments, you can learn."
With the transfer window looming, Tottenham will have to make a decision regarding Gollini's future at Spurs. However the Lilywhites seem to be very close to securing the signing of Fraser Forster on a free transfer.
The 34-year-old was at Hotspur Way on Wednesday to have his medical and if the 34-year-old does make the move to the capital, it may move Gollini further down the pecking order. Forster won't cost Tottenham a penny and so it would seem odd for them to also want to spend money on the goalkeeper who arguably hasn't produced the standout performances to earn him a permanent place at Spurs.
In his recent interview, the 27-year-old didn't seem to give a definitive answer, in regards to what he hopes for, in the transfer window. "To tell the truth: if I could, I would stay at Tottenham," the goalkeeper admitted.
"I am very well here, I am very attached to this group and to the club. If they decide to keep me, I will be happy to stay.
"We split up, I'd like to go back to Italy. I love my home, Serie A. Now I don't know anything yet," Gollini added.
However the Italian didn't fail to drop some names of players he thinks Spurs should buy, when the transfer window opens. "Only one from Serie A to bring to Tottenham? Defender: one between [Matthijs] De Ligt and [Milan] Skriniar. [Ivan] Perisic here I would see very well," he said.
The signing of Forster would make it more than likely that Gollini will see an end to his short time at Spurs, but only time will tell what the future holds for the 27-year-old.
