Pie Darcy Moore receives good news on knee

Darcy Moore has been cleared of any serious knee injury, in a boost to Collingwood's finals hopes. (AAP)

Star Collingwood defender Darcy Moore has received some good news on his knee injury after scans revealed he hasn't torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

Moore was taken off the ground on a stretcher after hyperextending his left knee in a marking contest during the dying stages of the five-point win over Gold Coast on Saturday night.

Scans have since revealed bone bruising and a capsule strain to the knee, but the ligaments remain intact.

No timeline has been set on Moore's return, with the Magpies saying the 26-year-old will be assessed later in the week.

Moore was clearly happy with the news, posting on Instagram:"There is no structural damage to my knee ... thankyou to everyone for the messages of support, its is truly overwhelming and much appreciated."

Moore is one of the competition's best key defenders, and looms as a crucial figure in Collingwood's bid to make the finals this year.
