General manager Janine Latchford said : "He was incredible. He gave me a hug and I told him that I loved him pretty much as soon as I saw him! He loved the art work and he was asking questions about the Tyne Bridge. He said he’d never been to Newcastle before."
On Thursday night, the Pirates of the Caribbean star performed to a packed crowd at Jeff Beck's show at the Sage Gateshead. Pictures from the gig show him singing into a microphone on stage while playing a guitar.
The 58-year-old is a close friend of Jeff Beck and has made a guest appearance alongside him in each show on his current UK tour. The last remaining tickets for the show in Gateshead were sold on Wednesday morning after it was announced that Johnny would be appearing on stage.
Earlier in the day, fans crowded outside the Hilton hotel and the music venue to catch a glimpse of Johnny. At just after 3pm, he made his way from the hotel to the music venue ahead of the gig. He was snapped waving as he entered the Sage while Jeff waved to fans outside the hotel.
