Pictures show devastation of bungalow gutted by fire after hot hairdryer was left in drawer

A fire ripped through a bungalow after a hot hairdryer was left in a drawer.

Firefighters were called to the property in Pwllheli, North Wales shortly before lunchtime on Friday.

They warned neighbours to close all windows and doors due to the “severity of the fire and residual heat” and said smoke would continue to pour out of the property for several hours.

The fire was then brought under control on Friday afternoon and no injuries were reported, Wales Online reports.

Yet images taken from inside the bungalow show that most of the property has been destroyed by the severity of the blaze, and the fire service has revealed what it thinks caused the incident - a hairdryer that was still hot being put in a drawer.

Posting the pictures on social media, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “These are photos of the damage from the fire in Pwllheli this afternoon, thought to be caused by radiated heat from a hairdryer placed in a drawer.

“Thankfully no one was hurt. Please ensure that you allow any electrical appliances to cool down fully before storing them away.”
