Pictures show devastating damage inside shop after Mansfield building fire

Pictures show the devastating damage caused to a shop in Mansifeld town centre which broke out in the early hours of Tuesday morning, June 6. The incident took place in a commercial building in Clumber Street, Mansfield, at 12.34am, where crews tackled the fire at the single storey building.

The fire service received a high number of calls at around 1am with reports of smoke seen in the area. Road closures were put in place at the time of the fire and people were urged to avoid the area.

As of 4.25am, two fire engines are still in attendance at the scene of the incident damping down the fire and National Grid attended to isolate the power supply.

Ashfield Fire Station shared pictures of the awful damage to the shop on Clumber Street after the fire. A spokesperson for the fire service wrote: "Firefighters from Ashfield Fire Station plus others from across Nottinghamshire are in attendance at a building fire on Clumber Street in Mansfield.

"Roads are closed around the incident, please slow down if approaching Mansfield ring road close to clumber street. 04:25. 2 appliances remain on scene, parts of clumber street remain closed. The ring road is now open. Drive carefully around the area."

At around 1am, June 6, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said: “ "Our Joint Control Room is currently receiving a high number of calls about a building fire in Mansfield. Our firefighters are in attendance and are working to extinguish the fire. If you smell or see smoke, please keep windows closed."

Following the road closures, according to Inrix traffic is coping well this morning, the traffic monitoring site said: “Clumber Street in both directions partially blocked due to earlier building fire from St John Street to Toothill Lane. Traffic is coping well.”
