Pictures of Katie Taylor after Amanda Serrano fight as Irish star enjoys career highlight

Eddie Hearn wiped blood off the face of Katie Taylor at the post-fight press conference as she was cut open in a terrific win over Amanda Serrano in Madison Square Garden in the early hours of Sunday morning. The Irish woman won on a split decision after outboxing her tough opponent in an extremely close battle.

But Taylor did face one onslaught as she was left bloodied after the Puerta Rican unloaded shots in the fifth round, with some shocked she survived to the bell. Katie rallied back and was able to finish out the fight in style, winning on two judges scorecards by three rounds.

Pictures from during and after the fight show the Bray boxer with some nasty marks on her face after the biggest night of her career so far, reports the Irish Mirror.

On the victory, the 35-year-old said: "I think the most important thing is to come out as the winner regardless of whether I performed well or not. Today was just fantastic. I had to dig deep in there tonight. I had to produce a career defining performance to actually win tonight."

Taylor also praised her opponent and said the fight was better than anyone could ever have imagined. She added: "What an amazing champion Amanda is as well. A phenomenal fighter and we definitely got the best out of each other for sure.

"Everybody was talking coming into this fight that it was the biggest women's fight in boxing history but I think it succeeded everything that people were talking about this week. Just walking out to the ring today just looking at a packed stadium, it was unbelievable."
