Pictures: Best festival fashion and trends at Neighbourhood Weekender 2022 in Warrington

With festival season now well underway, revellers were out in force to party under gorgeous sunny skies in Warrington with the return of the Neighbourhood Weekender. The festival, held at Victoria Park in the Cheshire town is in its fourth year and returned after the enforced lockdown break with its biggest-ever line-up playing to crowds of thousands.

And with such stunning weather for the opening day, festival-goers made the most of it in a raft of colourful summer outfits. Thousands of music fans were out for the event, which on the Saturday saw performances from the likes of Manchester's finest The Courteeners, DMA's, The Lathums, Dylan John Thomas, Becky Hill and The Reytons.

With more festivals ahead this summer, including the big June return of Parklife at Heaton Park, it was a great chance to spy some of the emerging and key fashion trends for 2022. So here we take a look at some of the best-dressed and brilliant fashions sported by the Neighbourhood Weekender crowds.

Neighbourhood Weekender continues on Sunday at Victoria Park with more huge acts, including Stockport legends Blossoms, the Manic Street Preachers and Kasabian.

Flares

Psychedelic prints and flares are big (Natalie Argent)

One of the big trends returning from 2021, for all things flared and psychedelic, was all around at the festival. Teamed with matching crop tops and the ubiquitous bumbag, it's a great way to stay comfy and cool when heading out for an all-day party.

Bralets and bikinis

Bralet and cuffs is a cool festival look (Tom Martin)

With such gorgeous sunshine, there was never a better time to make the most of some decent weather and many revellers were doing just that in one of the big fashion trends of the summer - bralets. We particularly liked the matching bralet-and-cuff combos that gave a full 1970s fashion vibe to proceedings.

Clashing prints

(Tom Martin)

The more prints you can get in one outfit the better right now. Think clashing brights, or mis-matched animal prints and designs - kudos to this chap with the vertical print cycling shorts teamed with leopard print denim jacket.

Bucket hats

(Tom Martin)

We're all heading right back to the Summer of love with the fashions this year - and the classic bucket hat was everywhere at Neighbourhood. NBHD were selling their own version (as pictured above) while many were taking it back to the 90s with Oasis-emblazoned bucket hats.

All in the eyewear

We are loving heart-shaped sunglasses (Tom Martin)

Heart-shaped sunnies are the one that we want this year. Love, love, love.

Trusty hotpants

Denim hotpants were a top choice (Natalie Argent)

With weather this good it made sense to dig out the denim hotpants. And with no sign of rain there was no need to team them with wellies either. Converse and biker boots were the festival footwear of choice.

Novelty fashion

(Natalie Argent)

One way to ensure you make your mark at a festival is by wearing kitsch fancy dress and novelty fashion. And it's a guaranteed way to get everyone rushing over to get a photo with you.

Top marks to these guys for the 90s-feels in these Baywatch-style life guard outfits.

Go all out

(Tom Martin)

If there's one thing the past two years has taught us, it's just seize the moment isn't it? Revellers were making the most of a return to their best festival lives. If you've got a gorgeous ballgown, wear the goddam gorgeous ballgown.
