It was full steam ahead for the Craigie Hillfest 2022 on Saturday, September 10 with an eagerly awaited reunion of 1980s chart toppers Fiction Factory and 18 other bands on the bill.
The sixth time Perth’s boutique music festival ran as a fundraiser for the golf club was said to be the “best ever” by organiser Pauline Harrier at Craigie Hill Golf Club.
She admitted the event had its moments though in the run-up.
The festival had been in jeopardy after sluggish early ticket sales but punters rallied at the last minute and between 800 and 900 people came along for the afternoon.
Another set of circumstances had nearly gubbed the event. Heavy rain on Wednesday night saw the Cherrybank area under deep water and deliveries and marquee construction were put back on Thursday, a whole day of preparation effectively lost.
Friday was “chaotic” making up the time, so Pauline was “beyond relieved” when Saturday turned out to be a settled, sunny day and all the festival arrangements came together.
“We were lucky with the weather on Saturday, Craigie Hillfest was undoubtedly the best we’ve seen,” she told the Perthshire Advertiser.
“Fiction Factory and Curtains were both outstanding.”
