This is the moment a driver was rescued from their car after trying to cross a ford in County Durham.
Firefighters were called after the motorist became trapped in the vehicle at Westgate Ford, Weardale, with water rising rapidly inside.
Fire chiefs praised their "fantastic crews" who managed to put the driver in a harness and winch him to safety.
"Thanks to the swift response of our crews, the occupant sustained no major injuries," County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said.
Motorists were advised to consider alternative routes if their usual journey would involve a ford during the winter months.
