Pick your Liverpool team to face Villarreal in Champions League semi-final second leg

Liverpool are edging ever closer to a third Champions League final in the space of five seasons.

Two goals to the good heading into Tuesday's semi-final second leg with Villarreal, Jurgen Klopp's side are in pole position to reach Paris for another showpiece fixture in Europe's elite competition. A Pervis Estupinan own goal and Sadio Mane strike has seen the Reds take control of the tie, leaving Unai Emery's men with it all to do when the sides meet at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

Liverpool are now firm favourites to progress past their Spanish opponents, setting up a meeting with one of Manchester City or Real Madrid in the French capital on May 28.

The Reds have no fresh injury concerns heading into Tuesday's fixture, though Klopp confirmed this match will come too soon for the sidelined Roberto Firmino.

"Bobby is now running, so it’s good. A little strain here in the middle foot bone, so it’s very painful each step. But he was running today again, will travel with us but will not be involved in the squad yet. But we hope sooner rather than later," said the Liverpool boss.

“We had the issues with a stomach bug – they are all back. I think that’s it. No concerns.”
