There is a clear need for cornerback this offseason for the Minnesota Vikings given they only have three players under contract next season. Kyle Stackpole helped the Vikings fill that need by drafting Georgia cornerback Kelee Ringo in CBS Sports’ latest mock draft.
“The Vikings must address their pass defense that was second-worst in the NFL in 2022, especially with veteran Patrick Peterson set to become a free agent. Kelee Ringo’s size, length and speed overshadow his lackluster interception total (four the past two seasons), although he did combine for 15 pass breakups in that span. He has the traits to end up as the best cornerback in this class.”
Ringo’s versatility will make him an asset to the Vikings’ defense. He has experience playing in a variety of defensive schemes, which will allow the Vikings to use him in a number of different roles.
Ringo’s size and athleticism make him an ideal candidate for press-man coverage, where he can challenge receivers at the line of scrimmage and disrupt their routes and is known for his physical style of play.
