The long-awaited return of Boston Celtics starting center Robert Williams III against the Orlando Magic on Friday night began well with Boston jumping out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter, but the Magic fought back and the Celtics simply were not prepared. Playing the same brand of disconnected play that has been over-reliant on the 3, and an unfriendly whistle that saw Al Horford tossed unceremoniously dredged up memories of the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers flops.
Respectable games from Jayson Tatum (31 points, 7 rebounds), Jaylen Brown (26 points) and Marcus Smart (10 points, 8 assists), and Malcolm Brogdon (15 points off of the bench) on a night that the team shot 23.9% from beyond the arc was simply not enough to get the job done. Timelord managed a solid 9 points and 5 boards in his return to action.
