The Boston Celtics lost a close game at home to the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers in overtime, falling 132-123 to the Cavs despite huge games from both star forward Jayson Tatum (32 points, 7 rebounds), and wing Jaylen Brown (32 points, 8 boards).
A lack of size in the absence of suspended Grant Williams, defensive mistakes, and stagnant offense in the second half combined to make an insurmountable wall for Boston to get over, the Celtics falling to 3-2 as a result of the outcome. The bench was fairly tepid helping out the team with no players cracking double figures, and only Al Horford (12 points) and Marcus Smart (11 points, 7 assists) doing so among the starters besides Tatum and Brown.
