The Boston Celtics had quite a bit of time off in recent days in the wake of the NBA’s new in-season tournament (IST), and when they took the court at TD Garden against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, it certainly looked like it.
Less-than-premium effort and focus coupled with an epic early-game shooting slump nearly ended the game for Boston before it started, but the Celtics regained some composure and walked the lead down to trailing by just a point at the half. Boston kept up the pressure, and ended the night with a 120-113 win after trailing early by as much as 15 points. That the Celtics did not miss a single of their 26 free throw attempts on a night they won the rebounding battle by 10 certainly didn’t hurt, either.
