It never seemed likely that the Boston Celtics would have much trouble with the Washington Wizards on Monday night after each ball club’s respective offseasons, but it did not take long into the game to put whatever misguided doubt might be out there to bed with Boston jumping out to a 34-point lead in the game’s first half.
Boston jumped out to a big lead early and never relinquished it, pushing their advantage to as much as 37 points in a game they would win 126-107 with the starters on the bench in the game’s fourth quarter. The Celtics shot 50% from the field against the Wizards while holding Washington to 30.6% from beyond the arc, and won the rebounding battle 51-40.
