The Boston Celtics hoped to get back in the win column vs the Philadelphia 76ers after dropping the first game of their 2023-24 NBA season to the Minnesota Timberwolves, but looked like a team expecting a much weaker opponent than the one they encountered, and were never quite able to find their level.
The game saw Boston held to just 40% overall and a mere 31.9% from deep on a night they lost the rebounding battle 56-42, struggling to contain Joel Embiid in the paint. Late offensive stagnation, early defensive lapses and a light coverage of a hot Tyrese Maxey did not do the Celtics any favors in the loss, either.
