The Boston Celtics have struggled against the Oklahoma City Thunder in their last few meetings as that ball club emerges from a rebuild, and Monday night’s tilt on the Thunder’s home court was no different, though the Celtics nearly pulled off a late comeback after falling into an 18-point hole.
Poor shooting nights for Jaylen Brown (4-of-18) and Jrue Holiday (2-of-8) did not help Boston early, nor did Derrick White’s first half woes. The game ended up a closer affair than that early deficit might have suggested, but as frustrating as a loss like this may be given a win was within reach had a few things gone the Celtics way at several points late in the game, that Boston didn’t sit back and let the loss unfold is a small silver lining to build on.
