It comes after the Government sent out a 10 second sound alert at 3pm to every 4G and 5G device across the UK at 3pm on Sunday, April 23 to test its new Emergency Alerts service. Iin a time of real emergency would warn if there was a life-threatening emergency nearby

A spokesperson for Three said: "We're aware that a number of customers have not received the test alert. We're working closely with the government to understand why and ensure it doesn't happen when the system is in use."

The Government has advised that the alert system would not work on all devices. The Government's website, the emergency alerts "work on all 4G and 5G phone networks in the UK" and you do not have to be connected to mobile data or wifi at the time to receive it. However, if your phone was turned off or in airplane mode, connected to a 2G or 3G network, or wifi only, the emergency alert would not have been received.

And some devices simply may also not be compatible with the alert service. The emergency alert will only work on iPhones running iOS 14.5 or later and Android phones and tablets running Android 11 or later.
