Phillip Schofield to host This Morning solo as Holly Willoughby confirms she's leaving ITV studio early

It's been some week at work for Holly Willoughby as she and co-host Phillip Schofield continue to fend off rumours they are in the midst of a huge "feud" behind the scenes at the ITV studios.

Viewers have been tuning in to see how things are between the formerly close friends as they put on a united front as best they can. There have been "awkward moments" according to fans, as it's reported that Phil is determined to "tough out" one of the hardest times the duo have faced together amidst rumours he could be facing the chop from the show.

On their third day back at work since the news hit headlines about the supposed fall-out, Holly is set to leave the ITV set early today while Phil will remain on screen. The presenter told her 8.3m Instagram followers that she'd be skipping out earlier than she usually would ahead of her appearance on Wednesday's show.

She said: "Morning Wednesday… see you on @thismorning at 10am… the lovely @suranne_jones joins us today. I’m scootleing (is that a word) off early today to head to the Palace for the @princestrust … got my bested dress on! #hwstyle dress by @beulahlondon."

It's been claimed that the presenting duo's friendship has 'cooled' off and Holly wants to cut ties with Phillip, 61, in the wake of his brother's sex abuse trial and after their involvement in the 'queuegate' scandal after the Queen's funeral.

The pair, who have fronted the popular ITV show together for 14 years, have been continuing as normal this week despite the reports that they are 'barely speaking' behind the scenes.

Monday's show was the first time the presenting duo have been seen on camera together since 61-year-old Phillip issued an unexpected statement, in which he defended his relationship with Holly, who he claimed was his 'rock'.

Phillip told The Sun: "As I have said before, Holly is my rock. We’re the best of friends – as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone. Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her." Phillip added: "The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us."
