Phillip Schofield to be 'replaced' on ITV This Morning as he details off-screen 'hate'

Phillip Schofield is set to be replaced on This Morning, it has been reported. But fans need not worry as it won't be permanent. Viewers of the ITV daytime show are used to watching the presenter front the programme alongside Holly Willoughby from Monday through to Thursday.

But on Monday (March 27), Alison Hammond will step in for Phillip, after the Friday presenter made the announcement during her latest stint on the show alongside co-host Dermot O'Leary.

However, Alison announced at the end of Friday's episode (March 24) that she'd be sitting on the This Morning sofa on Monday, saying: "Guess what, I'm going to be hosting. Monday, 10 o'clock, see you there!"

The news came after she promised big names would be on the popular show next week, as she continued: "On Monday's This Morning, Shirley Ballas will be here as she reveals why her latest project will be more competitive than Strictly." Co-host Dermot added: "David Domoney has all you need to know about getting your garden ready for spring."

While Alison didn't confirm whether it was Holly or Phillip she would be standing in for, it has been reported that it is Phillip who will be taking the day off from his usual hosting duties.

It comes after the 60-year-old revealed his off-screen 'hate' during his day off of This Morning on Friday. Phillip, who hails from Oldham, took to his Instagram Story with a selfie which showed him looking a bit red-faced and sweaty. Alongside the snap he wrote: "I'm actually starting to enjoy cardio day!!" But he added in brackets: "Still hate leg day tho!"

During one of his recent appearances at the helm of This Morning, Phillip was heard offering two key words of advice for a man who wrote into the show to share how his family haven't accepted that he's gay. The presenter, who himself came out in February 2020, was and co-host Holly were joined by Vanessa Feltz who was on hand to answer viewers’ calls about love.

In an email sent to the show, 'Billy' said: "For years I’ve felt confused about my sexuality. But knew if I were to come out it would destroy my family and they would be so disappointed in me. It took me 20 years to build the courage to accept I was gay. Shortly after I met the love of my life and couldn’t be happier. My family reacted as expected. But it was all worth it to be able to be myself."

This led Phillip, who has spoken openly about his own struggles with his sexuality over the years before revealing he was gay on This Morning three years ago, to reply: "It's a shame the family reacted like that though." He then went on share that he hopes his Billy’s family will 'come round in time'.

He said: "I hope that maybe the family will come round in time as they should but what a shame to lose a member of the family over something like that. But also how wonderful that you’ve found somebody that’s great." Rounding off his own response, Phillip added: "Be Happy!"
