Phillip Schofield swears on This Morning as he fumes over show shake-up

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will be off ITV screens for the next week as they take their usual half-term break.

The presenting duo are always missing from This Morning during the school holidays throughout the year.

However, Phillip wasn't pleased to discover that his absence coincides with singer Pink joining the studio live on Tuesday.

After an ad for the show teasing Pink's interview, Holly said: "[Phillip's] deeply upset about what has just happened."

"No way," Phillip exclaimed as he held his head in his hands. "I've been here for nearly 200 years and she's the one person I want to meet."

"Come back," Holly suggested as Phillip shouted: "Arse!"

A shocked Holly put her hands over her mouth before telling her co-host: "Pop in you're only down the road."

"I can't believe it. Tuesday and it's half-term - I'm not going off I'm going to come in," Phillip said.

Holly encouraged Phillip to return during their half-term break as she declared she wouldn't be popping in herself.

This Morning viewers had little sympathy with Phillip as they claimed he "didn't need" to take a break from presenting.

One viewer tweeted: “Hey Schofe, how about you not take the school holidays off (when your children are adults) and you can meet Pink can’t you?”

“Why is he acting like he just found out about Pink right now? They have been promoting it for days,” said another.

“Phil Schofield moaning that he’s not in next week when Pink is on the show because it’s half-term. Er your kids are in their twenties darling. You don’t need no half-term,” a third wrote.

Another blasted: “That’s what comes when you pretend you have five year olds and need the school holidays off.”

This Morning favourite Josie Gibson will be taking over from Phillip and Holly along with Friday host Dermot O'Leary.

Speaking about the role on Tuesday, Josie gushed: "I’m completely honoured. Whenever I’m sitting there hosting the show, I often look around and think, ‘How the hell did this happen to me?’"

"I’ve had so many different hosting partners and I just love Dermot! Derm and Andi are who I grew up watching and my mum reminded me recently that I used to demand a taxi home after school so I would make it in time for Andi on the telly!

"So it’s just mad that I’m now sitting beside them myself on the telly. I still can’t quite believe it.”
