Phillip Schofield's wife Steph shocks Lorraine viewers with harsh work swipe

Phillip Schofield 's wife Stephanie Lowe left Lorraine viewers shock after issuing a harsh swipe.

The This Morning host got the surprise of his life in his dressing room by Lorraine Kelly with a whole show celebrating his 40th work anniversary.

His wife Steph joined the show via video link with their daughter Molly and Lorraine asked her about his key to success.

She said: "I don't have a clue! I think your previous guests have hit the nail on the head. He's genuinely interested in people and the news. He's great fun!"

"I've always been so proud of him," Molly replied as she recalled queuing up for his autograph once.

Lorraine asked: "What do girls mean to you?"

"Everything! I mean, we clearly had changes in our lives," Phil replied. But as I said, it's always been us four, but slightly different. Steph has been the most incredible foundation and support and rock throughout my career.

"The girls, I couldn't be more proud of. So yeah, we are a family."

Lorraine added, addressing Steph: "And 40 years! I mean, here's to the next 40, eh Steph?

"Yes, I need him to keep on working," Steph joked.

They all laughed as Lorraine said: "As always, the last word!"

Appearing on the show earlier, Lorraine told Phil: "We couldn't let it go. We go back - way, way back!

"You were so kind, welcoming and easy - it was like talking to a pal... we used to have such a laugh, we used to dress up as mad things."

Holly also appeared alongside him as she said that Phil had been the one to push for her to get the job hosting alongside him on This Morning.

"I know that you were on your own in that school of thought," Holly said.

She later paid tribute to her pal on Instagram, writing: "Today the TV oracle marks his 40th year in the business… for a long time I watched you and then for the last 15 years I have been lucky enough to sit alongside you.

"You have taught me so much, you have always been patient and generous with me… It’s been an honour to play a part in your TV story… love you to bits @schofe."

*Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
