Phillip Schofield's This Morning return in 'chaos' as Holly Willoughby struck down by nasty illness

Phillip Schofield's much publicised return to work has been thrown into chaos by the fact that co-host Holly Willoughby will be missing in action, having been struck down by a nasty illness.

ITV veteran presenter Phillip has been absent from the daytime show for the last three weeks. He and Holly always take a two week break for Easter, but Phillip took a 'pre arranged' leave of absence a week earlier, due to his brother's court case.

Alison Hammond hosted alongside Holly for much of the first week of Phillip's time off, before Alison and Dermot O'Leary and then Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle fronted This Morning over the school holidays. It has now been confirmed that Phillip will be back in the studio and back on hosting duty on Monday, April 17, but it won't be with Holly, as she is battling shingles.

Holly took to Instagram to tell fans that she's likely to be off screen for up to a week longer than expected, explaining: " "Hi, just to let you know, I may be away for the rest of the week as I have Shingles.

"I'll be back as soon as I'm better. Huge love."

It is expected that Rochelle Humes will be called into replace Holly, having not hosted This Morning for months. Addressing Phillip's return, an insider told The Sun: "Both Phillip and ITV agreed the time was right for his return.

“He is keen for normal life to return, and is very grateful for all the support from colleagues and friends behind the scenes."

They added: "Everyone at ITV wants him back on air."
