Phillip Schofield's This Morning replacement confirmed after host tests positive for Covid

This Morning bosses have confirmed who will replace Phillip Schofield on This Morning, after he tested positive for coronavirus.

Phillip was on screen both both Sunday evening to present Dancing on Ice, alongside Holly Willoughby and then again on Monday morning, when he hosted This Morning with Rochelle Humes.

However, Phillip definitely won't be on This Morning for the rest of the week, as he took to social media late on Monday night to reveal he'd tested positive for Covid-19 on a lateral flow.

Phillip posted a picture of the test with two red lines on and captioned it: "Well b***ocks," before adding: "Currently just a slight sore throat."

It has since been announced that Alison Hammond will step in for Phillip and host alongside Rochelle from Tuesday.

Alison normally hosts This Morning alongside Dermot O'Leary on Fridays, but enjoyed an extended stint at the helm of the ITV daytime show over Christmas with Dermot, as Phillip and Holly took a break over the festive period.

Holly, who was expected to be back on This Morning on Monday, is still absent as she films a new series for the BBC in Europe, along with comedian Lee Mack.

When she failed to appear on Monday's show, many viewers watching at home were confused by her still being missing in action.

Rushing to Twitter, one posted: "I thought Holly was off for 2 weeks, isn't this Rochelle's 3rd week?" and another reacted: "An explanation why Holly off this week / still filming or sacked?"

Equally baffled, a third posted: "So the 2 week break for Holly has turned into 2 weeks and a day?"
