Phillip Schofield's This Morning exit forces major change opening as host 'erased' from show

Just days after his controversial exit from the show, Phillip Schofield has been ''erased' from This Morning, as the show made a m,ajor change to its opening titles which was immediately clocked by viewers at home.

After days of speculation surrounding himself and co-host Holly Willoughby and bookies tipping him to leave before the end of the week, Phillip took to Instagram on Saturday afternoon, to announce that he'd left the show, having presented it for over 21 years.

Addressing his followers, Phillip wrote: "Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love."

Confirming he'd left the show, Phillip added: "So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future."

Phillip's This Morning departure was addressed by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, as they paid tribute to him seconds into Monday's show, but it was something that appeared on screen before cameras started rolling that viewers picked up on.

At the start of each new episode of This Morning, photos of the presenters are usually seen on screen, whether that be Phillip and Holy or Alison and Dermot, but on Monday,. not a single presenter featured in the opening titles.

It didn't take long for viewers to react to the change on Twitter, with one posting: "No video montage from presenters, producers or colleagues that he's worked with over the years. No VT of him saying goodbye? I've had warmer farewells from the dentist."

A second tweeted: "I don't understand #ThisMorning getting rid of Phillip Schofield if he's genuinely done nothing wrong...he's been there for 20 years, he doesn't even get a goodbye or at least a best moments montage."
