Phillip Schofield's dig at Prime Minister Boris Johnson as he mocks 'rubbish parties'

Phillip Schofield did not hold back on Thursday's This Morning as they discussed Sue Gray's recent report of 'Partygate'.

The long-awaited Boris Johnson party report was published on Wednesday after a four-month investigation by Sue Gray and the Met Police - with 37 pages and nine photos of the Prime Minister in Downing Street.

The scathing report into the Covid lockdown parties declared that Boris Johnson must "bear responsibility" over the brazen No10 gatherings - eight of which he attended.

Phillip and his co-host Holly Willoughby invited Bev Turner and Tom Swarbrick into the ITV studio to discuss the latest headlines, and of course the conversation soon turned to Boris and co.

As the foursome discussed the government's £10 billion support package that will supposedly help people with their rising energy bills, Tom said: "The government still is slightly all over the place about how to pay for it, how to target it, and that is going to affect them politically because a lot of Tory MPs are very, very worried about this."

Phillip quickly fired back: "Well, concentrating too much on their rubbish parties! That's the problem, isn't it?"

Moments later, mother-of-three Holly said: "Shall we talk about this 'Partygate' thing? We've done it every day for the last five years, so we might as well do it now!"

Talking about some of the behaviour that took place at the parties, Holly looked gobsmacked as they agreed it "paints a bleak picture".

Phillip then said sarcastically: "You wonder whether he caught Covid whilst he was eating a rubbish sandwich and drinking orange juice!"

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
