Phillip Schofield's Dancing on Ice replacement as he is absent from ITV show

Phillip Schofield is set to be replaced on this week's Dancing on Ice after he contracted coronavirus.

The presenter, who hosts This Morning and Dancing On Ice alongside Holly Willoughby, took to Instagram on Monday, January 31 to show his positive test result.

The 59-year-old would need two negative lateral flows tests to be able to return to Dancing On Ice on Sunday, but posted on his Instagram Stories yesterday indicating that he is still testing positive.

He shared an image of two tests, one showing a positive result and one showing an edited 'go to the pub result'.

He labelled the positive test as the one he keeps getting and the pub one as the one he would like to have.

In his post, he said that he was "feeling 100% well in #quarantine."

Because of this, Phil is having to take some time off from presenting the ice skating spectacular and instead, Holly will be joined by another co-host in his place.

It has been reported that Stephen Mulhern will be the one to step into Phillip's shoes.

An ITV insider reportedly told The Mirror : "While Phil is off recovering, Stephen was delighted to be asked to step in to fill his shoes and present alongside Holly.

"He gets on with everyone so bosses are more than happy for him to step up. Everyone's wishing Phil a quick recovery and hoping to see him back in his rightful place later this month."

The 44-year-old already has heaps of presenting experience, as he has worked on Rolling In It, Catchphrase and In For A Penny.

Stephen is used to being surrounded by live audiences whilst on screen.

This week, Phil has also had to be covered on talk show This Morning, as his duties were covered by Alison Hammond and Vernon Kay.

Dancing On Ice airs Sundays at 6pm on ITV and ITV Hub
