Phillip Schofield reveals Tom Cruise 'caused absolute chaos' at Queen's Jubilee after going against protocol

Phillip Schofield has revealed how Tom Cruise caused 'absolute chaos' as he attended the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration at Windsor Castle. The Hollywood actor baffled ITV viewers as he spoke to the presenter and co-host Julie Etchingham as they hosted the proceedings live on the network.

Tom, best known for action film franchises Top Gun and Mission Impossible, was part of the star-studded line-up for the event which saw Queen Elizabeth II in attendance to watch the equestrian extravaganza at the arena close to her home. He introduced what he said was "one of the most enthralling, thrilling, heart-in-mouth displays" as he announced a performance by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery.

Prior to his appearance in front of the Queen, Tom spoke to Phillip and Julie from their studio, telling them that the Queen "is a woman I greatly admire".

"What she has accomplished is historic. She has met presidents, world leaders, people from all walks of life," he said. "Not just Americans, but the world knows the dignity, devotion and kindness, that is what I have always felt about her. Someone that understands her position and has held it through a history that’s just been extraordinary the past 70 years."

During Monday’s instalment of This Morning, Phillip revealed all to co-host Holly Willoughby, who returned after a week off to host The Games, about interviewing the 59-year-old star live on air. After describing him as a 'class act' he added: "He caused absolute chaos in Windsor because he decided to walk to the studio.

"So the police then obviously had to do serious crowd control at the drop of a hat, but he met everybody." Phillip went on to call him "the most delightful man", saying: "When he did our interview he then went downstairs and met everybody, went into rooms to meet people and made proper eye contact. He is a class act."

A selfie of Phillip, 60, and the Mission Impossible star then flashed up on screen after the presenters spent time in his Winnebago behind-the-scenes in Windsor. Holly, 41, said: "Look at those two handsome fellas. That’s a great photo."

On Sunday night, as Phillip and the hosts waited for the Queen to make her unexpected arrival at the arena for the show at Windsor Castle, they questioned the Tom on his meeting with the Queen's late husband Prince Philip and how he wanted to be land a helicopter at Buckingham Palace.

But the conversation soon turned to Tom's career, including his latest film Top Gun: Maverick. But a number of viewers were unimpressed and claimed the celebrations to make the Queen's 70-year reign had turned into "The Tom Cruise Show".
