Phillip Schofield recalls 'bringing his dad back' with CPR allowing them another 20 years together

Phillip Schofield has recalled the moment he 'brought his dad back' by performing CPR.

The This Morning host made the comments on Monday's show alongside Holly Willoughby as they discussed the latest health headlines with Dr Ellie Cannon.

The first story they discussed was that of Christian Eriksen who suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark's Euro fixture with Finland on Saturday.

The 29-year-old collapsed on the pitch during the first half and immediately received medical treatment from teammates and medics at the stadium.

He was then taken to hospital where he was said to be in a "stable" condition and would continue to be monitored.

The incident has triggered more calls for everyone to know how to give CPR and for more defibrillators to be available in schools and football grounds.

Appearing on This Morning, Dr Ellis showed Holly, Phil and viewers at home the correct way to give CPR using a model torso in the ITV studio.

This lead Phillip, 59, to stress how important CPR can be before telling Ellie how he saved his late dad's life this way.

"I brought my dad back doing that," he said after Ellie showed them how to perform the live-saving treatment.

"And we got 20 extra years with him because of that, so you just never know," he said.

"If I hadn't been in that night, then you know, that would have been it. So it is worth knowing," Phillip added.

The TV star has previously spoken about how he knew what to do from seeing it on the TV.

Phillip was 22 at the time his father, Brian Schofield, suffered a heart attack.

Brian sadly passed away in 2008, aged 72.
