Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby return to This Morning today amid ongoing rumours of a major "feud" between the pair.
As we reported yesterday, ITV bosses confirmed the pair would be back on screens on Monday morning despite the drama that's been surrounding their popular daytime show over the past few days.
It's been confirmed the news the hosts will be on the sofa as usual on Monday, despite, according to reports, Holly being so "upset" about their rumoured feud that she could be absent.
And ahead of the broadcast, in pictures obtained by the Mirror, the star, 61, could be seen looking downcast as he headed to work today.
The presenter cut a casual shape in a light coloured shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes as he left his West London home this morning, amid reports he's planning to "tough it out" and fight for his job at ITV by seeing the scandal out.
He wore a black bag on his shoulder as he made his way from his home into an awaiting BMW at around 6.30am today.
Phillip, who has hosted This Morning since 2002, looked down towards the ground as he walked towards the waiting vehicle and he kept his face poker straight. Holly, who broke her silence on social media at the weekend, was snapped leaving her home at 7am.
The two hosts have faced growing pressures in recent months which took their toll on their formerly close relationship. These included the 'queuegate' scandal after the Queen's death last year and the recent extended period of absence of Phil's due to his brother's trial for sex crimes.
We previously reported that ITV bosses will not be long in axing Phillip if they feel his on-screen chemistry with Holly has been damaged, insiders have said.
It came after he went public on the apparent rift with his co-host in a statement that sources claim that neither Holly or ITV knew about.
Phil was accused of a "PR own goal" by saying that Holly, 42, is his “rock” after he came out as gay but admitting recent weeks “things haven’t been easy for either of us”. The insiders say that ITV and Holly think that the statement has made matters worse.
The source added: “This Morning’s relationship with its viewers is built on trust, and they have to believe that Holly and Phil’s friendship, and what they’re watching, is real. While there was a bit of noise and speculation about their relationship cooling, it could have easily been ignored.
“But by putting this statement out there, he has turned what was a manageable situation into a feeding frenzy. If viewers now no longer believe in the pair, and make their views clear next week, make no mistake, ITV will act.
“Phil’s position is looking increasingly precarious. Monday is very much D-day, but the same could apply to any day next week. No one is bigger than the brand.”
